Decluttering help, zero judgement

The stuff isn't the problem — it's just matter out of place. MOOP sits down in the mess with you, makes every keep-or-go decision easier, and gets the donations out the door the same day.

Why decluttering is the part people can't do alone

Nobody needs help throwing out a broken umbrella. The hard part is the other 95 percent: the gift you never liked, the jeans that might fit again, the craft supplies from a version of you that had more weekends. Every one of those objects asks for a small emotional decision, and a full house of them is thousands of decisions — that's why you're exhausted before the first drawer is done. Our job is to be the calm, unattached brain beside you: we sort, we ask good questions, you decide, and the pace stays humane.

Clutter accumulates whenever unconsciousness persists — it's one of the ideas we come back to constantly on the MOOP blog. Decluttering isn't about "looking good for guests." Most of what you own isn't helping you, and some of it is quietly working against you. A cleared space is a signal to your nervous system, and for the ADHD moms and busy families we work with, it's often the difference between a home that fights back and a home that cooperates.

How a decluttering session runs

We work one space at a time — a closet, a kitchen, a garage bay — never the whole house at once. Everything comes out, like goes with like, and we sort into keep, donate, sell and let go. You have full veto power at every step; we've never once made a client part with something. When the editing is done, the organizing starts: zones and labels so the clutter has nowhere to regrow. Working across Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver and New Westminster, we can usually route donations to a nearby charity the same day.

Good times to call us

Before a move or downsize, so you're not paying to pack and ship things you were going to let go of anyway — that pairs with our staging and packing service. After a renovation, a new baby, a separation, a loss. When the guest room has become "the room." Or simply when you've watched enough decluttering shows to know you want it, and enough of them to know you won't do it alone. Recent projects are in the gallery and on Instagram @moop.club.

Decluttering FAQs

I'm embarrassed about my house — do you judge?

Never, and you are our most common client. We've seen it messier, we promise. Please don't tidy before we arrive — seeing the space as it really lives is exactly what lets us fix it.

What happens to the things I let go of in Vancouver?

Whenever possible donations leave with us or are staged for pickup the same day, because a donate pile that sits in the hallway for a month isn't decluttering — it's relocating. We point sellable items to the right resale channel and recycle what we can.

Is decluttering different from organizing?

Yes. Decluttering is deciding what stays; organizing is building homes for what stayed. Most MOOP projects do both, but they're separate skills — and doing them in that order is why the results last.
